At 9am on July 12, 2021, students from the Jain Center of South Florida (JCSF) with some parents visited Sheyes of Miami #4, which serves both Brownsville and Liberty City in Miami. Mr. Altermont Walker, Administrator at Sheyes, and his teachers provided a high-quality education for children in this historical African American neighborhood in Miami. 

Today’s specials events were a collaboration among FIU Jain Studies, the Jain Center of South Florida, and The East West Foundation with Sheyes to enhance the childrens education through hands-on environmental education and STEM kits. These were the four classes of students at Sheyes joined that volunteers from JCSF (three parents, 7 students, and 2 Jain teachers), Dr. Zafreen Jaffery from Behavioral Science Research Institute, and Albert Knoepffler from Palmer Trinity to plant 9 fruit and shade trees. There are more than 30 food and ornamental plants at the school in between rain showers.
